One of the two nature centres on the biggest low marshes of Switzerland (the Grande-Cariçaie).
The Champ-Pittet area is nice and so is the nature centre. The birds encountered are often not for hardcore birding, but there are always nice surprices and sometimes very nice surprises. Two kilometres of trail, much of it on wooden walkways, take you over the marshy ponds and meadows of the Champ-Pittet site. There is a bird hide and an observation tower.
Champ-Pittet is located on the southern tip of Lake Neuchâtel, close to the town of Yverdon-les-Bains. There is a train station just at the nature centre (Yverdon-Champ-Pittet), on the line Yverdon-Fribourg. There is also a parking at the nature centre. Press P on the map for directions to the parking.
Pro Natura, one of the biggest nature conservation NGO in Switzerland has one of his nature centre in an old building here.
The "association de la Grande-Cariçaie" which monitore and conserve the "Grande-Cariçaie" which is the biggest low marshes of Switzerland (along the southern shore of Lake Neuchâtel), also has is team based here.
