Description
Stockviken is one of the best birding areas on Gotland. It has two different areas: an inland lake ("inre") with a watchtower and a bay ("ytre"). You can see ducks, geese, orel mořský, bělořit šedý, terns, reedbirds and waders. Many rare species have been seen here over the years. The area's nesting birds include waders such as vodouš rudonohý, ústřičník velký, jespák bojovný, koliha velká, břehouš černoocasý, tenkozobec opačný and jespák obecný, but also other species such as rybák malý, rybák velkozobý and rybák dlouhoocasý. Especially in spring – from early April to mid-May – but also during autumn – mainly in October – thousands of berneška bělolící can be seen in the area.
