Sandarviken is a shallow bay north of Faludden. The surroundings consist of large costal meadows, with bushy areas and more forested areas, and a lagoon.
At Sandarviken 223 bird species have been recorded. 35 species of wading birds have been recorded.
Sandarviken holds thousands of wintering polák kaholka but turpan hnědý, turpan černý, kajka mořská and diving ducks also winter in smaller numbers. During migration period the bay often holds large amounts of waders. Most numerous is the jespák obecný which sometimes number in the thousands. břehouš černoocasý, bekasina otavní, ústřičník velký, koliha velká, vodouš rudonohý, jespák obecný, tenkozobec opačný, and kulík písečný all breed somewhat regularly. Other wading birds often found are:kamenáček pestrý, kulík bledý, břehouš rudý, jespák písečný, jespák šedý, and jespák malý. Rarer wading birds like jespáček ploskozobý, lyskonoh úzkozobý, slučka malá and bekasina větší are sometimes found. Many vagrant wading birds have also been found.
In the lagoon kopřivka obecná, lžičák pestrý, čírka modrá and many other dabbling ducks often Feed. potáplice malá and potáplice severní often rest at Sandarviken year round. Large amounts of geese use the coastal meadows as resting and feeding ground during their migration. berneška bělolící and husa velká can sometimes be found in the thousands. husa krátkozobá and berneška rudokrká has been seen.
Parking can be done at Unghanseskär and at Haubjägar bodar.
The southern areas of Sandarviken is a bird protection area from 15 march - 30 june and from 1 Oktober - 15 november.
