Description
Just outside the village of Vegas Altas extensive rice fields start. The fields receive important winter concentrations of jeřáb popelavý and several species of waders like břehouš černoocasý, kulík písečný, pisila čáponohá, kulík zlatý, jespák malý, vodouš šedý, jespák bojovný, jespák obecný, pisík obecný, vodouš kropenatý, bekasina otavní and vodouš bahenní. During the migratory passages, you can also see other wintering birds such as slavík modráček, linduška horská or strnad rákosní. Other birds you can spot in the area are ťuhýk pustinný, tygříček tečkovaný, astrild vlnkovaný and dudek chocholatý. Also many wintering birds of prey (sometimes in high densities) like moták pochop, moták pilich, luňák červený, luněc šedý, dřemlík tundrový and kalous pustovka. Best times for a visit are winter and spring, from November to May. From June to October it can be very quiet on the fields.
