Senné Fishponds

East  >  Slovakia

The Senné fishponds are a very good place for watching wildfowl and waders which are hard to see in Slovakia. From the watchtower you can oversee the area.

Description

The Senné fishponds are a big area which unfortunately is partly closed for visitors. However, it is possible to walk along one part and climb the watchtower to get a good view over the ponds. The main attractions are polák malý, kormorán malý, bukáček malý, bukač velký, orlík krátkoprstý, volavka vlasatá and many more. The place will be interesting during passage as stop-over too. In the village there are breeding výreček malý. On the grounds of Birdlife Slovakia in Senné there is a possibility to camp. From this place it is easy to visit other birdwatching areas to the north and the south.
