Description

Lake Međeš has been created in 1984 by building a dam on the small stream with the same name on the Fruška Gora south-eastern slopes. It is a medium-sized lake, 1100m long and 350m wide, with maximum depth of 14m. As such, it is an attractive place for many waterbirds to overwinter, like kachna divoká, čírka obecná, hvízdák eurasijský, kopřivka obecná, lžičák pestrý, polák velký, and zrzohlávka rudozobá.

Also, the lake is surrounded by scrubs, bushes, and even a small forest below the dam, so many birds of mosaic and agricultural habitats can be found here: káně lesní, mlynařík dlouhoocasý, sýkora modřinka, kos černý, sojka obecná, and stehlík obecný.

Access

Lake Međeš can be reached from two sides, from the south and north.

From the south, it is reached from the local road Golubinci - Ruma, by departing to the north at Žarkovac village. This road passed over the dam of another artificial lake, Dobrodol. Note the very bad road 50-100m before and after the dam.

From the north, it is reached from the local road Krušedol - Irig, by departing to the south immediately after leaving Krušedol.

Near the lake, there is a comfortable parking place.
