The Great Island of Braila is located in the floodplains of the Danube and is therefore rich in birds.
The Great Brăila Island (Romanian: Insula Mare a Brăilei) is an island on the Danube river in the Brăila County. It has on average 57.9 km length and 18.6 km widthI. The Canalul Corotisca area is one of the best parts of the Great Brăila Island. It is located on the other side of the Danube at the town of Brăila. It is an area with ponds and forests, and therefore waterbirds and forestbirds. But there is also agricultural land. Pond birds, birds of prey, passerines, and many other birds can be observed. Some of the nice birds you can see are berneška rudokrká, ibis hnědý, chřástal polní, zrzohlávka rudozobá čáp černý, volavka vlasatá and mandelík hajní.
This place can be reached by car until the ferry crossing from Stanca, then on foot or by car.
