Description

Wadi Darbat is a beautiful place where you are surrounded by striking green nature in the middle of the desert. This popular green wadi is a wonderful place to be all year round. Omanis like to come here with the family for a picnic. Wadi Darbat is an area where there is always water and where it can still be endured in the middle of the day during the worst heat. The mix of hills with wooded pastureland, ponds, scrub, forest and rocky areas make it a very diverse area.

Along with a string of hills just inland, Wadi Darbat benefits from the edge of the south Asian monsoon which effects the Salalah area from mid June to mid September. The lush vegetation here offers African species such as Dideric Cuckoo, African Paradise-Flycatcher and Bruce's Green-Pigeon. Other birds that can be seen here are Sand Partridge, Rüppell's Weaver, Singing Bushlark, Eurasian Hoopoe, Pale Crag Martin, Grey-headed Kingfisher, Cinnamon-breasted Bunting, Abyssinian White-eye, Shining Sunbird, Forbes-Watson's Swift and Arabian wheatear.
