Description

The Grandefjæra bird tower gives views to a mosaic of mudflats, large and small ponds, various sandy and stony areas, seaweed zones, and smaller grass and heather islets. This means that a large number of waterbird species find the site attractive. Both as a resting place, grazing ground, and nesting biotope.

Birds you can observe include orel mořský, husice liščí, hvízdák eurasijský, kajka mořská, hohol severní, turpan hnědý, kormorán velký, koliha velká, břehouš rudý, vodouš rudonohý and jespák obecný and many more throughout the year.

Access

The Grandefjæra bird tower is located on the west side of the Ørland peninsula. From Brekstad it is easiest to get there by car or bike. There is a parking area 150m from the bird observation tower. Press P on the map for directions to the parking.
