A heath area close to Hilversum, worth a detour.
In the Westerheide skřivan polní are still numerous and during the migration period a stretch of meadow is used by kos horský and buntings. bramborníček černohlavý can be found on every protruding stem and in summer ostříž lesní can be seen hunting on a variety of dragonflies. Recently, lelek lesní have started to sing occasionally in this heath area.

Nederlands: De Westerheide is een heidegebied in de buurt van Hilversum. Hier is de skřivan polní nog talrijk en tijdens de trekperiode wordt een strook weiland gebruikt door kos horský en gorzen. bramborníček černohlavý is te vinden op elke uitstekende stengel en in de zomer is de ostříž lesní te zien jagend op een verscheidenheid aan libellen. Sinds kort zingen lelek lesní af en toe in dit heidegebied.
Parking can be done at Hilversumseweg 50, Hilversum (La Place restaurant). From the parking lot you can follow several routes onto the heath. Click on the P in the map to get directions. The suggested walking route on the Birdingplaces-map below is about 6,5 km long.
