Description
The Rammekenshoek nature reserve consists of beach, creeks, reed beds, forest and an old sea fort. In the 'canals' around the fort you can see different types of water birds. Outside the dike lies the only remaining salt marsh of the area. It is an area washed up by the sea with creeks, mudflats, salt-loving plants and coastal breeding birds such as vodouš rudonohý, ústřičník velký and tenkozobec opačný. In the reed beds that you can find throughout the area, rákosník proužkovaný, rákosník obecný, strnad rákosní and moták pochop breed in the summer and in the winter you regularly encounter sýkořice vousatá. A kormorán velký colony is present in the forest for many years and you can also find many species of forest birds. Birds that you can encounter in the area include pěnice slavíková, rákosník zpěvný, husice liščí, vodouš kropenatý, vodouš šedý, kolpík bílý, potápka malá, volavka stříbřitá and žluna zelená.

Nederlands: Natuurgebied Rammekenshoek bestaat uit strand, kreken, rietkragen, bos en een oud zeefort. In de 'grachten' rond het fort kun je verschillende soorten watervogels zien. Buitendijks ligt het nog enige schor van Walcheren. Het is een door de zee opgewassen gebied met prielen, slibranden, zoutminnende planten en kustbroedvogels als vodouš rudonohý, ústřičník velký en tenkozobec opačný. In de rietkragen die je in het hele gebied kunt vinden, broeden in de zomer rákosník proužkovaný, rákosník obecný, strnad rákosní en moták pochop en in de winter tref je er regelmatig sýkořice vousatá. In het bos zit al jarenlang een kormorán velký kolonie en kun je veel soorten bosvogels aantreffen. Vogels die je in het gebied verder kunt tegenkomen zijn pěnice slavíková, rákosník zpěvný, husice liščí, vodouš kropenatý, vodouš šedý, kolpík bílý, potápka malá, volavka stříbřitá en žluna zelená.

Rammekenshoek is located east of the city of Vlissingen. There are several parking lots around the area. Press a P on the map for directions to a parking lot. The circular walk shown on the map is approximately 4.5 km.
