Description
"De Plantage" is an old city park, located on the eastern side of the city center of Culemborg. The park consists of a small, (mainly) oak forest with high undergrowth, ponds and clearings. The ponds are mainly used by large groups of kachna divoká and smaller numbers of lyska černá and Slípka zelenonohá. If you're lucky, you'll find a ledňáček říční or a konipas horský passes you overhead. The small forested areas are the most important element of the park. During the breeding season, many common songbirds use the area as breeding habitat, like budníček menší and pěnice černohlavá. Also, žluna zelená, brhlík lesní and šoupálek krátkoprstý are often found in these areas. puštík obecný and kalous ušatý breed in the forested area and small numbers volavka popelavá breed in the trees adjacent to the ponds. In the center of the area, a nesting tree of a čáp bílý is present.
During autumn migration and winter, the forested areas are used by large flocks of thrushes and finches, like dlask tlustozobý, pěnkava jikavec and drozd cvrčala. Also králíček obecný are often found in large numbers in mixed flocks of (mainly) tits and thrushes. Within these mixed flocks, species like králíček ohnivý and sýkora uhelníček can be encountered. The surrounding pastures are used by flocks of holub doupňák, havran polní and volavka bílá.

Nederlands: De Plantage is een oude stadspark, gelegen ten oosten van het stadscentrum van Culemborg. Het park bestaat uit een klein (voornamelijk) eikenbos met hoog opgaande ondergroei (struiken), enkele vijvers en open plekken. Op de vijvers kun je grote groepen kachna divoká en in mindere mate lyska černá en Slípka zelenonohá. Met een beetje geluk kun je hier ook de ledňáček říční of eenkonipas horský aantreffen. Het belangrijkste onderdeel van het park zijn de bosschages en de hoge eikenbomen. Tijdens het broedseizoen kun je hier veel algemene soorten broedvogels vinden, zoals budníček menší en pěnice černohlavá. Ook soorten als žluna zelená, brhlík lesní en šoupálek krátkoprstý worden regelmatig hier aangetroffen. puštík obecný en kalous ušatý broeden in het gebied en enkelevolavka popelavá broeden in de bomen langs de vijver. Er staat ook een boom met een groot ooievaarsnest in de top waar elk jaar een koppeltje čáp bílý is te vinden.
Tijdens de najaarstrek en de winter is het gebied zeer in trek bij grote groepen lijsters en vinken, zoals dlask tlustozobý, pěnkava jikavec en drozd cvrčala. Ook králíček obecný kan regelmatig tussen grote groepen mezen en lijsters worden aangetroffen. Andere schaarsere soorten die in deze groepen kunnen worden ontdekt zijn králíček ohnivý en sýkora uhelníček. Het omliggende gebied bestaat uit voornamelijk akkers en weilanden en is zeer geschikt voor groepen holub doupňák, havran polní en volavka bílá.

Access
The park can be entered on foot and by bike, but on foot you'll be able to get to the smaller trails in the eastern part of the park. You can walk around the park in less than an hour (when birding) and is about a kilometer long. There's a carpark in the northwestern side, near the entrance of the cemetery (see the P on the map). Just follow the paved trails into the park and you'll find your way around it. On the trail in the northeastern part, there's a good vantage point to take a look over the pastures in northeastern direction. The park is only accessable between sunrise and sunset.

Nederlands: het park kan zowel te voet als met de fiets worden betreden, echter kun je te voet ook enkele kleinere wandelpaden in het oosten van het park betreden. Je kunt een ronde rondom het park wandelen in minder dan een uur (al vogelend) en de route is ongeveer een km lang. Er is een parkeerplaats aan de noordwest zijde van het pakr nabij de ingang van de begraafplaats (zie kaart). Vanaf het pad aan de noordzijde kun je goed de akkers en weilanden richting het noordoosten bekijken. Het park is alleen toegankelijk tussen zonsopkomst en zonsondergang.
