Description

Salina Jan Kok is a salt flat in Curaçao, known for its American Flamingo population. From a small platform you have good views over the area. Besides flamingos you also have a good chance of encountering many other bird species here. For example White-cheeked Pintail, Grey Plover, Black-necked Stilt, Semipalmated Plover, Short-billed Dowitcher, Greater Yellowlegs, Lesser Yellowlegs, Least Sandpiper, Stilt Sandpiper, Royal Tern, Yellow-crowned Night Heron, Snowy Egret, Tricolored Heron, Reddish Egret and many more.

Access

Salina Jan Kok is located in the western part of Curacao near the south coast. Close to the town of Sint Willibrordus. You can park along the main road. Press P on the map for directions. It's a short walk to the viewing platform. When the water level is low it is sometimes possible to take a walk around part of the area.
