The connection of Sani Pass and Black Mountain Pass is a tarred road with vast mountaineous pastures and rocky areas, as well as some streams.
The pastures along the Black Mountain Pass are full of migrating birds during summer (White Stork, Southern Bald Ibis) as well as some endemic species only found in areas like this (Fairy Flycatcher, Mountain Pipit, Mountain Wheatear, Sickle-winged Chat).
Access from South Africa via the Sani Pass road (only 4x4 vehicles!). Access from Lesotho is more easy as the road is tarred until the top.
