Description
Palm Islands Nature Reserve used to host many breeders in the past. Today, due to high levels of disturbance (many tourists visit the island via a boat shuttle) only the Racek středomořský still breeds on the island. Today, the island remains an excellent site for monitoring the large migration of waterbirds as well as well as potential observation and/or ringing of passerine migrants. The site is also interesting for wintering seabirds.
Birds that can be observed in the area include kormorán velký, pelikán bílý, čírka modrá, volavka popelavá, pisila čáponohá, racek chechtavý, racek žlutonohý, čáp bílý, linduška horská, konipas bílý, konipas citronový, konipas horský, rybák severní, čejka chocholatá, rybák obecný, rybák bělokřídlý, kulík říční, volavka vlasatá, čáp černý, hvízdák eurasijský and buřňák středomořský.
