Description

Lake Nakuru National Park is one of Kenya’s most iconic protected areas, celebrated for its wildlife (Black and White Rhinos, Rothschild’s Giraffe, Lions, Leopards, Buffalo, etc) and its rich birdlife.

This sewage treatment plant north of Lake Nakuru consists of different basins - gravel filling, mud basin, sedge basin, reed basin, free water. The basins are partially surrounded by roads. Close observations of pelicans, herons, rails, lapwings, terns, Marabou Stork, Saddle-billed Stork and many other birds.

Access

Lake Nakuru National Park is approximately 157 kilometers northwest of Nairobi. Lake Nakuru Wastewater Plant is located in the north of Nakuru National Park. Because the basins are inside the national park entry fee is payable. The area can be visited all day. Access is only possible by car. A road runs between the basins.
