Monti della Tolfa (Tolfa hills) include coppice woods and grasslands where "maremmana" cows are bred in the wild. The high biodiversity of plants and animals supports a high bird diversity. It's possible to reach the area by car, train (Rome-Civitavecchia and Rome-Viterbo railways) or bus. The villages of Allumiere, Tolfa, Canale Monterano an Barbarano Romano are the best starting points to explore Tolfa hills hiking or mountainbiking. A 10 km circular walk departing from the village of Tolfa is indicated on the map.
