Description

Ulfljotsvatn is an interesting zone to visit with nice views of the lake and surroundings. It looks like the typical icelandic grazing fields with erosion signs next to round rocky mountains, but it has also small forest patches and is full of small growing birches and pines that will become forest in some years thanks to the Icelandic Forestry Association work, probably increasing the biodiversity and its attractive. Although a wide variety of birds can nowadays be found there, such as the characteristic icelandic Anatidae species, other aquatic birds like potáplice lední and rybák dlouhoocasý or bekasina otavní and břehouš černoocasý searching for insects on the fields. You can also see bělokur horský, some arctic fox or, if you are very lucky, even the mighty orel mořský has been seen overflying the lake during late summer months.
