The road between Mavria and Platania is a great road to stop and drive along, and to observe many local breeding species, like sedmihlásek olivový, pěnice dlouhozobá and pěnice vousatá. The small houses and farms a worth a check for sýček obecný, and the scattered trees are perfect for skřivan lesní. The scrubs and bushes are great for many species of shrike, like ťuhýk rudohlavý and ťuhýk běločelý. The rocky outcrops are great for brhlík skalní and strnad šedokrký.
During migration, the area is worth to check for species like mandelík hajní, vlha pestrá and Žluva hajní. Raptors are always present, and tend to hang around the hill tops, like káně bělochvostá.
