Description
Gadoura Reservoir is a large reservoir in the middle of the island of Rhodes. The Gadoura Dam was constructed in 2002 to supply the island with drinking water. The reservoir is surrounded by green hills. A nice road leads down to the car parking areas, through hilly areas of scattered trees and bushes. Keep the car windows down to hear for bird calls and song. Birds you can encounter include potápka roháč, potápka malá, volavka stříbřitá, vlha pestrá, pěnice dlouhozobá, pěnice bělohrdlá, ťuhýk rudohlavý, hrdlička divoká, strnad luční and Chocholouš obecný.

Gadoura Reservoir is located in the middle of the island of Rhodes and signposted off the Lardos to Alaerma road. There are a few good parking areas as you head towards the dam. Press P on the map for directions to a parking. There are good hiking trails around the area. There are no stops for refreshments or food along the way, so those wanting to visit the dam should come well prepared, with plenty of food and water.
