Description
The Zschornaer Teichgebiet is a nature reserve of 314.74 ha near the village of Zschorna. The area includes the two bodies of water Großteich Zschorna and Breiter Teich as well as the adjacent shore areas. The nature reserve is important for waterfowl. Also considerable accumulations of swallows and swifts in the late summer. From spring until autumn good chances of observing jeřáb popelavý. During autumn migration the site attracts many species of waders such as koliha velká, vodouš šedý, vodouš bahenní, vodouš rudonohý, jespák bojovný, jespák obecný and bekasina otavní. In winter the area is a resting place for Nordic geese, morčák malý, hohol severní and morčák velký. Sometimes rarities are spotted, like for example kajka mořská, chaluha příživná, jespák skvrnitý, jespáček ploskozobý and potápka žlutorohá.

Access
The Zschornaer Teichgebiet is located directly north of the village of Zschorna. Click on the P in the map for directions. You can make a circular walk of 6 km around the reserve.
