Description

The Wolbecker Tiergarten is one of the oldest forests in the Münsterland and covers an area of 288 hectares. The forest has numerous old oaks and beeches. And there is a big 'wilderness area'. In July 2010, a tornado swept through the southern area of the Wolbecker Tiergarten. A large part of the trees were damaged. Around 50 hectare of this area has been designated as a 'wilderness area' which is left to its own development. The dying and dead wood attracts many insects and birds and people get the opportunity to experience the natural processes in the forest Among the birds you can encounter in the Wolbecker Tiergarten are strakapoud prostřední, strakapoud velký, žluna zelená, datel černý, včelojed lesní, holub doupňák, lejsek černohlavý, lejsek šedý, sýkora babka, ledňáček říční, králíček obecný, brhlík lesní and dlask tlustozobý.
