The Stahlberg and Hölleberg area is dominated by well-preserved calcareous grasslands in different stages of succession and interesting for breeding birds of semi-open habitat, including kukačka obecná, křepelka polní, slavík obecný, skřivan polní, žluna zelená, cvrčilka zelená, ťuhýk obecný, linduška lesní, skřivan lesní and krutihlav obecný. Visitors are luňák hnědý and luňák červený, čáp černý, krkavec velký and ostříž lesní. The area is also a well-known hotspot among botanists (orchids) and entomologists (e.g. butterflies).

Access
The site is accessible by car, there is a parking possibility at the airfield Hölleberg. From there, several hiking routes lead along the plateau which offers a scenic view over the Diemel valley. The length of the route you see on the map is about 7 km.
