This glacial valley, through which the Randow River flows, is certainly one of the best areas in Germany for observing birds of prey.
The cultivated grassland "Randowbruch" adjoins traditional forests and offers great opportunities for almost all Central European bird of prey species, especially in spring and summer. orel křiklavý, včelojed lesní, káně rousná (in winter), orel mořský, luňák červený, luňák hnědý, all falcons (including almost annual records of poštolka rudonohá), Harriers (moták pochop, unregularly moták lužní in summer, moták pilich in winter season) can be seen in good numbers and at close range. Rarities like luněc šedý and orel královský have been recorded.
In addition, typical grassland species like čejka chocholatá, koliha velká or Wagtails can be observed. Also pěnice vlašská, ťuhýk obecný and linduška luční hold territory in the area.
Best access is via Gramzow and Zehnebeck from the West or Blumberg/Casekow from the East. The area is poorly connected via Public transport, bike (or car) is a good alternative.
Important note: The whole area is under agricultural use. This means that mowing machines etc. regular use the field paths. These are only partially open to motorized traffic, please pay attention to traffic signs. Although the area is easy to hike by foot, please don't leave the field paths.
The best areas to visit are outlined on the map with the blue dotted line and the 'point of interest'-symbol.
