The Hemmelsdorfer See is a lake that has many different water birds, depending on the time of year. Breeding birds include labuť velká, kopřivka obecná, lyska černá and potápka roháč. Other birds that are observerd regularly are ledňáček říční, orel mořský, moták pochop, rákosník obecný, rákosník velký, slavík modráček and sýkořice vousatá. During migration you can observe birds like racek malý, orlovec říční, rybák černý and polák velký.
Coolest one I've seen were morčák malý in winter and I heard Žluva hajní in the trees in summer. The boardwalk goes out into the lake and along the reeds. Also great spot for landscape photography.

The Hemmelsdorfer See is located north of Lübeck in the immediate vicinity of the Baltic Sea. The restaurant has a small parking lot, in which you can get a spot very early in the morning. . Otherwise there is a free, public parking area available a little further down the road, which I marked as the trail head. Click on a P in the map for directions.
