Feuchtgebiet Gretesch is a wetland that is home to many different species of birds throughout the year. Especially waterfowl such as kopřivka obecná, čírka obecná, lyska černá or potápka malá. During migration you can also see wading birds such as bekasina otavní or vodouš kropenatý. Depending on the season, songbirds such as bramborníček černohlavý and konipas horský as well as birds of prey such as káně lesní, poštolka obecná or sýček obecný can be found in the neighboring meadows.
By car, take the A33 motorway and take exit 7 “Lüstringen”. Drive east on Mindener Straße and after about 1 km turn left onto “Burg Gretesch” street. After another 750 m there is a publicly accessible parking lot on the right. The nearest bus stop is “Osnabrück Schoeller”. The best way to explore the area is on foot from the car park or bus stop. The circular walk indicated on the map is about 1,5 km.
