Nature reserve of 184 hectares on the eastern edge of the city of Berlin. A great place for watching Berlins wild birds.
East of Mahlsdorf, the Erpe, an offshoot of the river Spree, meanders through the forest and meadow landscape close to the city. The Erpetal nature reserve is an area with many different habitats. There are woodlands, there is a small river, and there is a little lake. The area is really big, so different birds find their home there. You can encounter birds like ledňáček říční, husa velká, puštík obecný, Slípka zelenonohá, mlynařík dlouhoocasý, stehlík obecný, zvonek zelený, čížek lesní, šoupálek krátkoprstý, datel černý and strakapoud velký.
You can park nearby or drive per S-Bahn from Berlin to the station "Friedrichshagen" than you can go by feet or bike. Click on the P in the map to get directions. The circular walking route indicated on the map is about 4,5 km long.
