Description

The wet meadows of Elzwiesen are irrigated in March, August and November. End of March/ start of April and August are the best times to watch migrating birds on the flooded meadows. Common migrating spiecies are vodouš bahenní , jespák bojovný , vodouš šedý , racek chechtavý and čírka modrá. Also rarer species like kolpík bílý , koliha malá and břehouš černoocasý can sometimes be found on the irrigated areas.

Breeding birds are koliha velká , čejka chocholatá , slavík obecný and ťuhýk obecný. Many volavka bílá , volavka popelavá and čáp bílý can be observed feeding in the area. The meadows are irrigated in steps from south to north. So most times only one part of the area is flooded. Note that the area has limited access from March to June.
