Pointe de Grave is the northernmost tip of the pine-clad sandy coastline of Western France and forms the south coast of the Gironde estuary.
Pointe de Grave is one of the best places in western France to watch migrating birds during spring. Loads of birds are spotted when northeasterlies/easterlies blow: břehule říční, vlaštovka obecná, racek žlutonohý, hrdlička divoká, linduška luční, pěnkava obecná, konopka obecná, stehlík obecný amongst the most abundant.
As migration spot it's best to come very early in the morning and sit on the dune, facing South. By train: from Bordeaux to Pointe de Grave station, By car: there is a free car park right at the tip where the road stops.
A team is on the spot every day from March to May to count the birds. You are always welcome to join them.
