A mix of open and wooded area near one of the higher peaks of the Vosges. The site has a beautiful diversity of bird species.
At 1306 meters high, the Gazon du Faing is one of the higher peaks of the Vosges in France. The top of the mountain is a nature reserve, with a special landscape due to the peat soil. Around it are open areas with blueberry bushes, coniferous forest and rocky cliffs. The site has a beautiful diversity of species. You can find birds like zvonohlík citronový, Ořešník kropenatý and křivka obecná.

Gazon du Faing is located on the border of Alsace (Haut-Rhin department) and Lorraine (Vosges department). You can park at Auberge Gazon du Faing. Click on the P in the map for directions. From there several paths are indicated. The circular walk indicated on the map is about 3 km, but is is easy to make longer walks.
