A beautiful national park with vast forests, serene lakes and rich biodiversity, ideal for nature lovers and bird watchers.
Nuuksio National Park covers an area of 53 square kilometers and is one of the most popular national parks in Finland. It offers a mix of dense forests, rocky hills, lakes and wetlands. These varied habitats are home to a wide range of bird species. In spring, for example, you can hear and see Žluva hajní, while lejsek malý and sovice krahujová can be observed in summer. During the autumn and spring migration, jeřáb popelavý and various duck species stop off at the lakes. The peaceful landscape and well-maintained walking trails make it a wonderful place for birdwatching.
Nuuksio National Park is located approximately 30 km from Helsinki and can be reached by car or public transport (bus from Espoo). Parking is available at the Haukkalampi entrance or other access roads. Press P on the map for directions to the parking near the Haukkalampi entrance. The park is best explored on foot using the well-marked hiking trails. A full visit should take 3 to 5 hours.
Within the park there are eight marked trails for hiking. These trails vary in length and difficulty, being between 1.5 km and 17 km long. The route indicated on the map is the 4 km long Haukankierros. Route markings are blue. There are steel stairs about halfway through the route.
