Description
Vitsø Nor is a fine example of the restoration of nature. A project that covers 112 hectares and aims to restore a lake of about 52 hectares with associated wet meadows and similar natural areas. The salt marshes, meadows, pastures and lakes in Vitsø Nor have a rich plant and wildlife. The uncultivated areas in Vitsø Nor are important breeding areas for waterfowl such as potápka malá, husice liščí, polák velký and husa velká , and for meadow birds such as čejka chocholatá, jespák bojovný, vodouš rudonohý, bekasina otavní and moták pochop.

Access
The only way to the island of Ærø is by ferry. You can sail to Ærø from either Svendborg, Faaborg and Rudkøbing in southern Funen or from Fynshav in southern Jutland. If you do not want to bring your car, there are several places that offer bike rentals. For more info on bike rental and ferry tickets see the links below.
