Hvide Sande is a fishing town in Jutland with a large fishing port. The name literally means white sand and it is therefore also possible to take a beach walk from here. For bird watching, however, it is especially interesting to watch from the piers out to the sea or on the side of the Ringkøbing Fjord. In this largest lake in western Denmark and between the dams there is a chance to see species that come to shelter in calm waters, such as alka malá and alkoun úzkozobý. Species such as terej bílý, racek tříprstý, turpan černý, potáplice malá and rybák severní can be seen from the piers.
The car can be parked in the village and walk to either side of the village or the parking place in the dunes, from where you can reach the north pier. Click on a P in the map for directions.
