Description
The Nature reserve Nový rybník is an important breeding site for many reedbed birds such as slavík modráček, Chřástal vodní, rákosník velký, rákosník proužkovaný, rákosník obecný, moták pochop, Slípka zelenonohá or strnad rákosní. On the pond itself breed many pairs of racek chechtavý (the only occupied place in Plzensky region), husa velká, lyska černá, kachna divoká and a few pairs of kopřivka obecná, polák velký and polák chocholačka. In the rural areas and meadows breed ťuhýk obecný, cvrčilka zelená, rákosník zpěvný, pěnice hnědokřídlá, slavík obecný, skřivan polní and many others.
During the spring migration you can see birds such as bramborníček hnědý, bramborníček černohlavý, čírka modrá, rybák černý and many other species of waterfowl. In last years jeřáb popelavý is a regular guest here, especially in spring time. In late summer and autumn there is little water, which is suitable for bekasina otavní, čejka chocholatá, vodouš bahenní and other waders. In winter ťuhýk šedý is a regular visitor.
Many birds come to spend a night in the reedbed, especially in the end of summer. It is the best place in the area where to watch špaček obecný murmuration (thousands of birds). You can also see vlaštovka obecná and konipas luční.

Access
Easily accesible by car. There is a small parking lot in the south of the pond. You can also arrive by public transport using a bus to the city of Líně and then 20 minutes walking using the unpaved road.
