Description

Domaine des Silex is an interesting birding area because it is located on the edge of the Soignes forest and has 2 ponds. This means that you can see a wide variety of birds (forest birds and water birds). You can see all the species of tits present in Brussels (sýkora uhelníček, sýkora parukářka, sýkora babka, sýkora modřinka, sýkora koňadra and mlynařík dlouhoocasý), all woodpecker species (strakapoud velký, strakapoud malý, strakapoud prostřední, datel černý and žluna zelená), thrushes (drozd zpěvný, drozd cvrčala and drozd kvíčala), common garden and park birds (střízlík obecný, červenka obecná, pěvuška modrá, šoupálek krátkoprstý, brhlík lesní, pěnkava obecná, zvonek zelený králíček obecný, králíček ohnivý, holub hřivnáč, holub doupňák, vrána černá , kavka obecná, sojka obecná and straka obecná), raptors (káně lesní, krahujec obecný, jestřáb lesní, včelojed lesní, sokol stěhovavý and ostříž lesní) and lots of waterfowl (kachna divoká, polák velký, polák chocholačka, Slípka zelenonohá, lyska černá, [ [Dodaars]], potápka roháč, kopřivka obecná, labuť velká, volavka popelavá, occasionally the volavka bílá, Chřástal vodní, ,kormorán velký, and the ledňáček říční!

Français: Petite réserve Natura 2000 en bordure de Foret de Soignes avec 2 étangs, un grand et un petit(ce dernier est accessible que les samedis ou 1er dimanche du mois). Ce site est d'un grand intéret car il est en bordure de Foret de Soignes et comporte 2 étangs, ce qui fait que on peut y voir une grande variété d'oiseaux (oiseaux forestiers et oiseaux d'eau).

On peut voir ici toutes les éspèces de mésanges présentes sur Bruxelles ( sýkora uhelníček, sýkora parukářka, sýkora babka, sýkora modřinka, sýkora koňadra et mlynařík dlouhoocasý), toutes les éspèces de pics présentes sur Bruxelles ( strakapoud velký, strakapoud malý, strakapoud prostřední, datel černý et žluna zelená), des grives ( drozd zpěvný, drozd cvrčala et drozd kvíčala), les oiseaux communs des jardins et parcs ( střízlík obecný, červenka obecná, pěvuška modrá, šoupálek krátkoprstý, brhlík lesní, pěnkava obecná, zvonek zelený králíček obecný, králíček ohnivý, holub hřivnáč, holub doupňák, vrána černá, kavka obecná, sojka obecná et straka obecná), des rapaces ( káně lesní, krahujec obecný, jestřáb lesní, včelojed lesní, sokol stěhovavý et ostříž lesní) et plein d'oiseaux d'eau ( kachna divoká, polák velký, polák chocholačka, Slípka zelenonohá, lyska černá, potápka malá, potápka roháč, kopřivka obecná, labuť velká, volavka popelavá, occasionellement la volavka bílá, Chřástal vodní, racek chechtavý,kormorán velký, et le ledňáček říční !

Access

The site is accessible by tram line 8 or bus line 17. A car park can be found on the square opposite the Chemin des Flints, by which you access the site. You can also reach the area by bike but not enter the site with the bike. Bicycle parking is available at the entrance.

Français: Le site est accessible avec la ligne 8 de tram ou 17 de bus, et en voiture des places peuvent etre trouvées sur la place en face du chemin des silex, par lequelle vous accedez au site. Vous pouvez y acceder à vélo mais pas rentrer dans le site avec le vélo; un parking a vélo est disponible a l'entrée.

In addition to all the species mentioned above, other species can be observed on the site depending on the season. In winter, the presence on the pond of čírka obecná, Chřástal vodní, and the lžičák pestrý can be noted. On the site you will most certainly be able to see the čížek lesní, with luck pěnkava jikavec, and with a lot of luck čečetka tmavá. Stopping on the site during migration you can see in particular pisík obecný and vodouš kropenatý, pěnice slavíková, kos horský, bramborníček černohlavý, lejsek černohlavý ( not very frequent), rehek domácí, cetie jižní (an individual has been present on the site since October 2021), the rákosník proužkovaný and the rehek zahradní.

And finally, in summer you can see rorýs obecný, many jiřička obecná, vlaštovka obecná, včelojed lesní, ostříž lesní, budníček větší, budníček menší, rákosník obecný, and occasionally the rákosník zpěvný as well as the lejsek šedý. On migration, you can see above your head the konipas luční, linduška luční, skřivan lesní, skřivan polní, drozd cvrčala, drozd kvíčala and špaček obecný (these last 3 can also be seen on the site). Note that during the whole year you can observe with a little luck hýl obecný and dlask tlustozobý, as well as zvonek zelený. In flight and occasionally landed on the site you can see stehlík obecný and křivka obecná, but for these 2 you need a good eye!

Français: En plus de toutes les éspèces mentionés précèdemment, on peut observer sur le site d'autres éspèces en dépendant de la saison. En hiver, on peut noter la présence sur l'étang de la čírka obecná, le Chřástal vodní, et le lžičák pestrý. Sur le site on pourra voir très certainement le čížek lesní, avec de la chance le pěnkava jikavec, et avec un gros coup de bol le čečetka tmavá. En halte sur le site on peut voir nottament le pisík obecný et le vodouš kropenatý, la pěnice slavíková, le kos horský, le bramborníček černohlavý, le lejsek černohlavý( pas très fréquent),le rehek domácí , la cetie jižní (meme si un individus est présent a ce jour sur le site depuis octobre 2021!), la rákosník proužkovaný et le rehek zahradní.

Et pour finir, en été on pourra voir le rorýs obecný, de nombreuses jiřička obecná,l' vlaštovka obecná, la včelojed lesní, le ostříž lesní, le budníček větší, le budníček menší, la très characteristique du site rákosník obecný, et occasionellement la rákosník zpěvný ainsi que le lejsek šedý. En migration, on saura voir au dessus de nos tetes la konipas luční, le linduška luční, l' skřivan lesní, l' skřivan polní, la drozd cvrčala, la drozd kvíčala et l' špaček obecný (ces 3 derniers peuvent aussi etre observés sur le site). A noter que pendant toute l'année on pourra observer avec un peu de chance le hýl obecný et le dlask tlustozobý, ainsi que le zvonek zelený. En vol et occasionellement posés sur le site on pourra voir le stehlík obecný et le křivka obecná, mais pour ces 2 là vous avez interet a avoir une bone ouille !
