Nature preserve with several ponds and reed beds. Well known to belgian birders, one of the richest spots in the area. Harbours many uncommon or rare species.
Most of Wallonia's better known birding spots for waterfowl (and reedbed associated birds) are in the west, but this is one of the best known spots to the east. Good visibility on all the ponds and a beautiful new lookout cabin built a couple of years ago. A common haunt of the sýkořice vousatá, slavík modráček, ostříž lesní and Chřástal vodní among many others. Also a relatively important spot for the more common waterfowl such as the čírka obecná, lžičák pestrý, or Slípka zelenonohá. An oasis of diversity in the middle of intensive farmland activity.
Just a few minutes off the A3 motorway at the 28A exit, next to the town of Hollogne-Sur-Geer. Free parking spaces are available coming from the east in the middle of town (Rue du centre). Click on the P in the map for directions. The location can be visited on foot.
