Description

DOKW (Donaukraftwerk) Asten-Abwinden is a hydroelectric power plant on the Danube in Upper Austria. The proximity of an old river arm and a reservoir results in a rich spectrum of different bird species. Birds that regularly can be found here include Racek středomořský, racek bělohlavý, konipas bílý, kormorán velký, volavka popelavá, polák velký, polák chocholačka, lžičák pestrý and husa velká.

Access

DOKW Asten-Abwinden is located 15 km southeast of the city of Linz, downstream on the Danube. There is a large parking lot directly at the power plant (on the south side of the Danube). Press P on the map for directions. From the parking you can explore the area on foot. The circular walking route shown on the map is about 5 km. The route can also be extended to include the adjacent Lake Ausee.
