Attractive lake with reedbeds, restaurant, free parking and woods. Very busy in summer with boating activities.
Llandrindod Wells Lake is best avoided in high summer from a birding perspective due to the rafting, sailing and kayaking activities. In spring there may be Sedge Warbler, Reed Warbler, Reed Bunting, Common Kingfisher, Little Egret, Great Cormorant, plus woodpeckers, Spotted Flycatcher, Pied Flycatcher, Willow Warbler, Common Redstart and Eurasian Woodcock in the woods.
Llandrindod Wells is 4 miles east of the A470 Rhayader-Builth Wells road. The train station is a stop on the scenic Heart of Wales line, see link below. The lake is at the southern end of the town. The figure of eight walking loop shown is 2 km.
