Store Mosse is the largest marsh in southern Sweden. To call it a ''marsh sea'' is not an overstatement.
Store Mosse National Park is home to breeding Trane, Sangsvane, Svartspett, and Kvartbekkasin. The marsh has breeding waders, wildfowl, and numerous warblers in the woodland including Gulsanger. There are also Grouse, such as Storfugl, Orrfugl, and Jerpe, as well as Toppmeis. Kävsjön in the middle of the national park is a famous bird lake and easy accessible on foot. You can make a circular walk of 14 km around the lake or overlook the area from the watch tower near the visitor center.
From Varnamo, go North but as soon as you get to the first round about take the first exit and head for Hillerstop. After 8 miles of driving you will see the car park. At lake Kävsjön is the main entrance to the national park with visitor centre, bird towers and trails. There is also a good carpark. Store Mosse has more than 40 kilometers of footpaths available.
