Description

The area is a secluded rural haven away from the nearby tourist areas with quiet lanes and tracks threading through local farmland that can be explored easily on foot. The best time time to visit is in the first few hours after sunrise when the birds are most active. Stone-curlew is present in the fields and orchards in the area. Woodchat Shrike are easy to see perched atop bushes and wires. Mediterranean Flycatcher can be found in wooded glades along many of the roads and tracks in the area and during migration they are joined by Spotted Flycatcher and Pied Flycatcher. Other migrants include Whinchat and Common Redstart. Other birds that can be seen in the area include Eurasian Hoopoe, Golden Oriole, European Turtle Dove, Thekla's Lark, Greater Short-toed Lark, Sardinian Warbler, European Serin and Western Yellow Wagtail. Scan the hills to the south for Booted Eagle. A circular route of 3 km is shown which should cover most of the species, but the wider area is well worth exploration.
