Nice area with paved path around Prestvannet lake in Tromsø. Largest concentration of Red-throated Diver in Norway with 10-15 pairs.
Prestvannet lake has easy access from Tromsø. Ice covered during winter. Great birding after the ice retreats from mid May onwards. In autumn waders and ducks gather during migration. Great place to get wilderness feeling in the midst of North Norway largest town, Tromsø. Nice place for photography and sound recording/listening. Displaying divers are a very special experience! Best to be there early in the morning before traffic escalates and often little wind for great reflections.
