Walk from Ringve botanical garden down to Ladestien trail along the Trondheimfjord. You can see resident sea birds and migratory birds.
Ringve botanical garden is a birding hotspot for resident birds and a few migratory birds. Then you can walk to the Ladestien walking route overlooking Trondheimfjord. It's a very scenic place as well as a hotspot for resident sea birds and migratory birds on their way to the south. Among the birds you can encounter are Eurasian Tree Sparrow, Greenfinch, Eurasian Bullfinch, Common Chaffinch, Brambling, Yellowhammer, Hooded Crow, Rook, Long-tailed Duck, Common Scoter, Velvet Scoter, Common Goldeneye, Great Cormorant, Slavonian Grebe, Red-breasted Merganser, and Nutcracker.
There are multiple bus options from Trondheim center, going to several points of ladestien route. You can start walking from Korsvika along ladestien and go to Ringve botanical garden from Ringvebukta. Spend about an hour at the garden watching birds and admiring the garden before going back to ladestien which extends all the way to Ranheim. If you have limited time, you can limit the walk to Ringve, Leangenbukta, and Grilstadfjaera (great place for migrating shorebirds).
