Description
It Skoar has a very appropriate name, because the name means 'salt marsh'. It is the border between the Wadden Sea and the land. The salt marsh is separated from the sea by a low summer dike. In a heavy storm, the salt marsh is flooded by the sea. This nature reserve, located on the edge of the Wadden Sea is a wonderful resting place for birds. The birds can be observed very well from the high seawall.

Nederlands: It Skoar heeft een heel toepasselijke naam, want de naam betekent 'kwelder'. Het ligt op de grens tussen de Waddenzee en het land. De kwelder wordt door een lage zomerdijk van de zee gescheiden. Bij een zware storm wordt de kwelder overspoeld door de zee. Dit natuurgebied is een heerlijke rustplaats en hoogwatervluchtplaats voor vogels. Vanaf de hoge dijk zijn de vogels goed te zien.
