Residential area in the municipality of 's-Hertogenbosch with a wide variety of birds. Located between the river Maas and the lake Engelermeer.
De Haverleij is a bird-rich residential with hedgerows, thickets and reed beds. Together with the water storage is is an interesting area for various bird species. The water around the castles of Wuyvenhaerd and Leliënhuyze offers space for Common Kingfisher, Barnacle Goose, Greylag Goose, Tufted Duck, Great Cormorant, Canada Goose. In the fields near Slot Haverleij tits and finches: Long-tailed Tit, Great Tit, Eurasian Blue Tit, European Goldfinch, Common Chaffinch, Blackbird, House Sparrow, Eurasian Green Woodpecker and in summer Greater Whitethroat, Common Cuckoo, Garden Warbler, Blackcap. Until 2014, Crested Larks and Black Redstarts could still be seen here. From the dike along the Meuse, chance of Northern Wheatear (end of August), European Stonechat, Common Buzzard, Eurasian Kestrel, Common Pheasant and in the winter months Fieldfare and Redwing. Chance of Great Spotted Woodpecker, Eurasian Jay, Short-toed Treecreeper, Common Nightingale, Cetti's Warbler, Eurasian Tree Sparrow, Grey Partridge, Common Pheasant and Common Kingfisher. from the cycling and walking path next to the Velderwoude and Beeckendael castles.

De aangelegde hagen, het struweel en de rietkragen vormen samen met de wateropslag een interessant gebied voor verschillende vogelsoorten. Het water rondom de kastelen Wuyvenhaerd en Leliënhuyze biedt ruimte voor o.m. Common Kingfisher, Barnacle Goose, Greylag Goose, Tufted Duck, Great Cormorant, Canada Goose. In de velden nabij Slot Haverleij mezen en vinken: Long-tailed Tit, Great Tit, Eurasian Blue Tit, European Goldfinch, Common Chaffinch, Blackbird, House Sparrow, Eurasian Green Woodpecker en in de zomer Greater Whitethroat, Common Cuckoo, Garden Warbler, Blackcap. Tot 2014 waren hier nog Kuifleeuweriken en Zwarte roodstaarten te zien. Vanaf de dijk langs de Maas kans op Northern Wheatear (eind augustus), European Stonechat, Common Buzzard, Eurasian Kestrel, Common Pheasant en in de wintermaanden Fieldfare en Redwing. Vanaf het fiets- en wandelpad naast de kastelen Velderwoude en Beeckendael kans op Great Spotted Woodpecker, Eurasian Jay, Short-toed Treecreeper, Common Nightingale, Cetti's Warbler, Eurasian Tree Sparrow, Grey Partridge, Common Pheasant en Common Kingfisher.
You can park in the car park at the Bellaard, opposite Kasteel Holterveste. The route consists of asphalted walking paths and sandy paths. A walk through the 'castle gardens' is especially nice in spring and summer, when warblers, tits and goldfinches are active there. Click on the P in the map for directions. Nederlands: Parkeren kan op de parking aan de Bellaard, tegenover Kasteel Holterveste. De route bestaat uit geasfalteerde wandelpaden en zandpaden. Een wandeling door de 'kasteeltuinen' is vooral in het voorjaar en in de zomer erg leuk, wanneer de grasmussen, mezen en putters daar actief zijn. Klik op de P in de kaart voor een routebeschrijving.
