Often passed towards the Ipsilou monastery, the slopes of Vigla are great for typical inland species, like Isabelline Wheatear.
Most birders drive along this road towards great birdingplaces in the west, like the Ipsilou monastery and Sigri, but the slopes of Vigla provide some great habitat for typical inland breeding species. Next to the road, several lay-overs are present, which can be used to scan the slopes on both sides of the road. The mostly barren landscape is great for species, like Chukar, Cretzschmar's Bunting, Blue Rock Thrush and Rock Sparrow. Often, Isabelline Wheatear can be seen on rocky outcrops too. The scattered trees are also good for Cinereous Bunting.
The slopes can be observed by park and drive along this road. Carefully park your car on spots were it's safe and possible for other cars to pass you.
