Big lake with reedbeds and woodlands. Good site for waterfowl in Berlin.
Nice combination of lake, reedbeds and woodlands. There is a large population of Great Reed Warbler , and a colony of Black Tern at Die Banke. In winter, when other sites in Berlin can be a bit boring, one can find interesting waterfowl here, including Red-necked Grebe, Slavonian Grebe, Common Goldeneye, Velvet Scoter and various loons. In the winter 2020 the lake was visited by one of the rarest loons, the White-billed Diver (gavia adamsii). The woodlands south of the lake are home to breeding Red-breasted Flycatcher.
