Description

Hirschacker and Dossenwald is a nature and landscape conservation area that covers a total of almost 170 hectares. It is characterized by the drifting sand dunes that are up to 13 meters high and are home to many protected plant species and beetles. Of particular ornithological interest in this area are (Ευρωπαϊκό) Γιδοβύζι and Δεντροσταρήθρα. But forest birds such as Νανοδρυοκολάπτης or Μεσαίος Δρυοκολάπτης can also be found here.

Access

Hirschacker and Dossenwald is located between Mannheim and Schwetzingen and about 10 km west of Heidelberg. You can park on the Parkplatz Dossenwald. Press P on the maps for directions to the parking. The area can be explored by bike or on foot. There are many trails to explore the area. The route you see on the map is just a suggestion and about 5 km.
