Large forest area around a pond and stream. The area offers the opportunity to hear and see several owls.
The idyllically situated pond Georgsteich was artificially created around 1712 during the construction of a nearby mill. The hilly forest around the pond and the Hatzbach stream offers nice hiking and biking routes across a large forest area and the opportunity to hear and see several owls. I have heard the calls of several owls at dusk.
The Georgsteich is located east of the village of Hatzbach. There is a spacious parking lot near the entrance road. Press P on the map for directions to the parking. The main roads are paved and there are nice biking and hiking routes across the forest. The route that is indicated on the map is about 10 km.
