Description

Observatoire de l'étang de la Sous is a nice observatory on the lakeside. The large hide offers a view of one of the Brenne’s most beautiful lakes. The lake attracts birds all year round. In spring Purple Heron occur alongside Little Bittern. In the reeds you can also find Great Reed Warbler. On the open water you can see Whiskered Tern and Black-necked Grebe. Among the other birds you can observe around the lake are Northern Shoveler, Common Teal, Red-crested Pochard, Garganey, Little Grebe, Water Rail, European Golden Plover, Northern Lapwing and Common Crane.

In winter Great Bittern comes to feed on its shallow waters, and overwintering ducks like Eurasian Wigeon are attracted by the large area of open water.
