Description
The Etangs de Tonnoy border the Moselle River. About a dozen former gravel pits with quite a few trees around them. The ponds are of varying sizes and require varying levels of maintenance. A small wood borders the site on one side, which adds another distinct biotope to the area. This small wood is home to a large number of standing dead trees. Birds that have been observed in the areas include Mali detlić, Vijoglava, Crna žuna, Vodomar, Pupavac, Crna lunja, Riđa lunja, Bela roda, Obična čigra, Sprudnik pijukavac, Barska šljuka, Mala carska šljuka, Velika carska šljuka, Žalar slepić, Vivak, Obična kukavica, Grlica, Veliki ronac, Šiljkan, Plovka kašikara, Rusi svračak, Poljska ševa, Žuti voljić, Obični cvrčić, Siva muharica, Mali slavuj, Crna crvenrepka, Obična crvenrepka, Obična travarka, Crnoglava travarka, Potočna pliska, Žuta pliska, Zimovka, Velika strnadica and Strnadica žutovoljka.

Access
The ponds are situated directly south of the town of Tonnoy. Exit Tonnoy towards Velle-sur-Moselle. Take the last road on the right and follow the signs for "Etangs." The visit can be done on foot, by bike, or by car. All roads are passable, but drive slowly. Press P on the map for directions.
